in Mississauga is a top issue: almost 2/3 of low-income households are in unaffordable housing, and there's an existing gap of over 35k homes under $2k/m (likely more now). Looking forward to seeing what the mayoral candidates intend to do to tackle this housing deficit.

Statistics Canada has just released a new report on evictions in Canada, which shows that are on the rise. Mirroring BSH research, evictions for sale, landlord-use or renovation are now the top reason for eviction, not non-payment of rent.

We're getting ready for today and looking forward to new housing measures.
We're proud to have had a role advocating for better gov land use policy, measurements of housing need, and a fed acquisitions program, but there's still much to do. Watch this space!👀

We’re pleased to see increases to housing subsidies for vulnerable seniors in BC, however a subsidy increase to $310/month does not serve the 85% of BC seniors who can only afford up to $1,000 per month. One-bedrooms in BC are renting for $2100+, and so a significant gap remains.
