It details the history of the use of prisons from the French colonial period, through to Hafez and Bashar.

Kudos to Ayhan S. Işık and the editors for bringing together a stellar lineup of authors for this massive 3-part volume on the #Kurds at the centenary of the Turkish Republic. Chapters are very diverse and deal with history, politics, culture, memory, gender, ecology, etc.

İstanbul's #Fatih neighborhood is home to lots of different communities and their cuisines. Al-Jumhuriya English published my essay about Fatih's rich and diverse food scene, including Little #Syria .
