'It’s worth remembering that, at the beginning of the 20th century, Argentina had about the same per capita income as the US and Canada. But after 120 years of economic mismanagement, their income is one-third that of the US. Ours is now three-quarters. Unless we mend our ways,…

Exactly four years ago today: in the midst of India's 21 day lockdown, I commented from my home in Mumbai to BBC News on the government's first relief package. Little did any of us realize at that time just how much our world was going to change, permanently, thereafter....

Excellent analysis by my Carleton colleague, the estimable Fen Hampson, on how, under the leadership of Brian Mulroney, Canada punched well above our weight on the world stage. That, alas, cannot be said today.

This chart, taken from Andrew Coyne 🇺🇦🇮🇱's most recent column, should be a wake-up call to Canadians. From having an income about 90% of the US in the early 1980s, we have dropped to 73% as of 2022. Absent major structural economic reforms, things will get worse. theglobeandmail.com/opinion/articl…

Canada lost a great man today. He left Canada a better place. His life story shows the promise of our country. He stood on the side of democracy and freedom around the world. His leadership and statesmanship is a model for all our leaders. May he Rest in Peace.

What a disgraceful headline from our supposed national 'newspaper of record'. All consequential PMs, and Mulroney was one, are 'divisive'. That's part of the job description. He was a true ideas-based politician, putting principle above electoral calculus. RIP, Brian Mulroney. 🙏

It's annoying that even the British press, in this case the FT, have embraced a solecism so widely. 'Lord Jacob Rothschild' would be correct if the late financier had been the younger son of a Marquess or Duke. As a peer, what's correct is Jacob, Lord Rothschild. Rant over.
