There are a number of myths about sexual assault which are often based on victim-blaming attitudes in our society.

📌We get to hear about these myths. However, It's important to understand that sexual assault is never okay it is never the fault of the survivor.

The aftermath of such acts,being health complications leading to death,dropping out of school & mental health conditions,fill the lives of young girls like her.

📌Healthcare should be affordable and accessible to all! We advocate for the right to access medical attention for everyone, everywhere!

Alarmingly, in this 21st century society,the generally expected empathy for sexual assault victims, especially young people & women,is increasingly being replaced with condemnation, denying them the essential support for overcoming the trauma.

Sexual assault is not just a problem for survivors to solve alone - everyone has a responsibility to take action beyond awareness.

There's stigma surrounding discussions abt sexual assault & tendency to blame victims as they're often accused of inviting the attack due to their clothing or behaviour,esp girls & young women,discouraging them from speaking out.

📌Facts:The patriarchal nature of our traditional communities has aided Sexual Assault. In these communities,male perpetrators are protected & excused for their actions,while female survivors are shamed & blamed,creating a culture where the act is normalized.

Uganda heavily relies on the agricultural sector and 70% of this program budget for FY2024/25 is expected to come from outside sources. Where does this leave us as a country when donor priorities and funding levels change?

💯 Gender inequity in some of Uganda's communities perpetuates cultural practices & norms that make women & girls more vulnerable to sexual assault. The deeply ingrained belief that women are inferior & lack agency further enables perpetrators to act with impunity.

📌At least over half of women & almost 1 in 3 men have experienced sexual assault.
