SUBSTANCE AND STORYTELLING CHALLENGES REMAIN. 78% of all voters could not name a single thing Dems had done to improve their lives. Dems absolutely need to continue to deliver substantive change, but also absolutely need to figure out how to tell the story and reach voters.

DEMS WON OR GOT CLOSE IN AN R ENVIRONMENT. Dems either won or came very close even in a Republican-heavy electorate – particularly in AZ, GA, NC and WI. This is consistent with findings from our previous research...

DOBBS + DEMOCRACY > ECON. In a forced choice between economic concerns, protecting democracy and abortion, econ was tops for 54% of voters, and they were R+32. But the 29% of voters whose top concern was protecting democracy went D+23, and the the 17% focused on repro went D+56.

DIVERSE COALITIONS WIN ELECTIONS, NOT MEDIAN VOTERS. Dems lost men R+7, and white people overall were R+13. But they won women D+3 and voters of color: Latino D+32, Black D+57, Asian D+15. (Reminder: this is battleground only, so compare to national exit polls carefully)

YOUTH VOTE SHARE WAS A BFD. Dems lost 65+ by 4, lost 50-64s by 5, tied 30-49s - but absolutely shellacked Rs with 18-29s by 22. D+22! Other analyses have shown that youth were a smaller share of the electorate, but the huge youth margin was clearly decisive.
