The damage reports in the Amherstburg and Oldcastle areas, together with radar and video evidence, have allowed NTP to classify the limited damage as being from one or more downbursts (i.e. not a tornado). We'll complete the assessment using the evidence we have. Thanks @WE_SEE!

Turns out the first Canadian tornado of 2024 occurred on March 16th at Malden Centre in SW ON. After an NTP ground / drone investigation, the tornado has been rated EF1 given it ripped the roof off a mobile home.

NTP's first blog post of 2024 is a doozy!

In doing our systematic satellite review at the end of last storm season, 27 new tornadoes were found from 2017 to 2022 (in addition to the 9 that were found in 2023).
