This was a peaceful protest that broke some rules. That's it. The president--a friend and a terrific scholar--lost the script and shat the bed. I feel profoundly disappointed, saddened, infuriated, disgusted, and betrayed. This is my school and my students.

Earlier this month I shared, before a house committee, the story of Ashley, a 31-yr old app-based health care worker in PA. We met earlier this year via research w/ Fairwork. For 2 yrs, Ashley has worked in nursing homes for ShiftKey, which allows her to bid on shifts. 🧵

NYPD 115th Precinct Edward A. Caban Tania Kinsella NYPD Chief of Department NYPD Chief of Patrol NYPD NEWS As a Jackson Heights resident, I am completely against this. These vendors are community members doing survival work. The City has failed to fix the broken system capped the number of permits 40 years ago. Celebrating taking the bread out of these neighbor’s mouths is shameful

.NYPD NEWS War on Working Families continues

Each bag of clothing & toys represents a family falling into poverty as a result of your actions

Shameful to celebrate criminalizing hard-working immigrants trying to make a living. Why don't you help vendors get a license instead?

Martin Z. Braun Bloomberg CityLab 85% of the residential units included in the last four lien sales were occupied by renters, not owners. The city gave up its leverage over conditions for those New Yorkers by selling the debt to private finance to collect. rpubs.com/jakobks13/1127…

The tax lien sale is not an enforcement mechanism-- in fact NYC loses the leverage it has over property owners when it gives liens to a private company for 70 cents on the dollar.

Oh look, it's the homophobic, antisemitic, anti-abortion guy REBNY's shady PAC decided to pay $10,000/month to try to undo tenants' rights in New York.

Once again, the real estate industry truly is not sending their best.
