This was so much fun! Loved having the opportunity to be in dialogue with Catherine Malabou following her talk on “Oliver Sacks’ Musicophilia” at the #MentalStateofNoise seminar followed by Q&A - talking about plasticity, therapy, synesthesia, architecture, space, and much more!
THIS IS TODAY!!! I’ll be respondent for the philosopher Catherine Malabou’s talk “Oliver Sacks’ Musicophilia or How to Stop the Brain’s Noise” - can’t wait!! ✨🪐💃🕺 This is part of Cecile Malaspina’s #MentalStateofNoise seminar series and you can register at the link below
My article “The Plastic Hospital: Catherine Malabou’s Architectural Therapeutics” is now published in a special issue of Essays in French Literature and Culture on “The Critical Medical Humanities” - so excited to be part of this! #CatherineMalabou #MedicalHumanities #plasticity
CFP: I am co-editing a special issue of Film-Philosophy with Ben Tyrer on “Malabou, Plasticity and Film” - exploring what Malabou’s philosophy of plasticity does for film and film philosophy, and what film does for Malabou Film-Philosophy 🎥🧠 journals.ed.ac.uk/f-p-submission…

Great Womxn’s Writing and the Medical Humanities conference on womxn's medical writing this week! I particularly enjoyed adriana paramo 's paper on how film has shaped misleasing public perceptions of childbirth and Lesbian Dance Theorist 's on trans science fiction writing!
Carla Pascoe Leahy Tamarin Norwood Womxn’s Writing and the Medical Humanities Hello Carla Pascoe Leahy, the talk was recorded and I think it will be made available soon. Benjamin Dalton Womxn’s Writing and the Medical Humanities will be able to confirm. Do feel free to DM me as well, would be happy to exchange thoughts
THIS. I spent the last 3 days at Womxn’s Writing and the Medical Humanities online - this would have been denied to me if it’d been held solely in person, because my immune system is too dodgy to risk it. Going back to in person denies entry or encourages unacceptable risk for ill or disabled attendees.
Had a wonderful time today presenting on the work of Akwaeke Emezi at Womxn’s Writing and the Medical Humanities alongside such illuminating papers from Gabrielle Hanley-Mott and Debashrita Dey, chaired by the brilliant @V_Schuchter 🌟 now onto Elliot Evans' keynote lecture! ✨
