Wondered if is feasible without killing cells? V/ pleased to introduce Live-seq, a novel approach that enables transcriptome-wide recording & sequential cell probing (2 dots in a tNSE, same cell!) Great collab w/ Julia Vorholt, tx Wanze & Orane! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

A super useful new study led by Anne Wyllie shows that saliva is a better diagnostic sample for testing than nasopharyngeal swabs. Switching to saliva solves problems of shortage of swabs, PPE, saves healthcare labor and gives better sensitivity and consistency 👍🏽

This is the breakfast my neighbor just delivered at our door, making the whole family very excited. We waved at each other across the narrow street, smiling. I think the excitement is not only from missing donuts for a month, but also for their kind and warm hearts. Thanks!

In Iceland: ~50% asymptomatic - but not clear what proportion completely asymptomatic versus pre-symptomatic. Either way, symptoms might not be a good indicator of infectiousness: EVERYONE NEEDS A MASK

The latest from our lab just out in bioRxiv:

By sequencing intracellular pools of RNA @RMLWikingerin found a novel subset of Defective RNAs in the subgenomic RNA of Chikungunya virus, conserved in other alphas, that are not packaged into virus particles.
