Contrary to popular belief, the biggest housing project battles I’ve seen (at least in San Mateo County) tend to be projects with the most amount of deed-restricted affordable housing or directly benefit the unhoused, teachers or in this case… senior farmworkers.

Why is it illegal to build like this in most of the U.S.?

Parking requirements and other zoning laws make it extremely difficult to build walkable housing.

People-first communities like Culdesac should be the norm not the exception.
