Grateful to all midwifery students who have been a part of the NHS covid response so far. I would now like to keep focused on the continued education of our 3rd years to ensure we have the new midwives we will need, to join our workforce when they graduate later this year.

Elsewhere midwives in Tower Hamlets Tower Hamlets GP Care Group Tower Hamlets Baby Feeding Service have used frequent video appts, kept tongue tie services running and have partnered with children’s centres to provide evidence-based resources and information to women through virtual groups.

Today marks the end of #WorldBreastfeedingWeek – an excellent time to reflect on midwives going above & beyond to give infant feeding support during #COVID . Great to see work being done by PRUH King's College NHS, incl. a dedicated phoneline staffed by midwives shielding at home

Delighted to present at the southeast NHS England event on support 4pregnant & postnatal black, Asian & minority women & communities alongside eminent colleagues including: Scott Durairaj Jenny Hughes @gulnarirani Michelle Cudjoe great e.g’s of targeted care & co-production with MVP

These updates include:

✅Advice on face masks changed to reflect guidance from NHS England
✅Advice on visitors/birth partners for hospital inpatients changed to reflect national guidance
✅Babies should not be advised to wear face masks because of the risk of suffocation

I am elated to confirm that there is now enough capacity to test *every NHS Staff Member with COVID-19 symptoms and/or their Household Contacts* should they wish - and all NHS systems across England are in the process of standing up arrangements to facilitate this to happen 👊
