The TRC began its hearings on this day in 1996. The first to testify was BCM activist, Mapetla Mohapi’s widow & Steve Biko’s secretary, Nohle Mohapi-Mbetshu. She testified of her husband’s murder in detention & of her own torture at the hands of police. I wrote about it in F2.
