That’s a wrap! MSPs finished considering amendments to the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill this evening, with several sensible changes brought forward in respect of licences for wildlife traps, grouse shooting & muirburn. On Thursday the final stage 3 debate takes place. 1/2

During stage 3 of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill, Emma Harper MSP has introduced an amendment which puts beyond doubt the ability to make muirburn out of season under licence if it is necessary. This will provide land managers with greater flexibility to make muirburn.

Today we’re in Scottish Parliament for stage 3 of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn Bill. We’re pleased that MSPs have agreed an amendment by Rachael Hamilton MSP Scottish Borders which will ensure NatureScot have to provide reasons for refusing, modifying, suspending or revoking licences for wildlife traps.

We had a great opportunity this weekend to join BASC Scotland on their stand at the Scottish Conservative Conference in Aberdeen where we spoke to MSP’s on the importance of getting young people out of the classroom and onto the hills with our “Estates That Educate” programme.

Today we atteneded the Scottish Labour Conference in Glasgow, a chance to talk with MSP’s about the importance of sporting estates and the role they play on biodiversity, the economy and local communities. We were joined today by BASC Scotland & Scottish Land & Estates
