The opening of Erez and the Port of Ashdod to aid for Gaza is hugely welcome and something the UK has long been calling for.

Israel has also agreed to increase the number of trucks entering Gaza to 500 a day and extend the opening hours of Kerem Shalom.

But we need further steps for this to translate into getting more aid getting across the border and delivered throughout Gaza.

The UK is working to get aid through these humanitarian routes as soon as possible.
