We have our wings! On Monday, we graduated as Astronauts, after 13 months of basic training. The past year has been incredible - full of challenges, new friendships, and the start of a hugely exciting journey to space ✨

Thank you to everyone who has supported us getting here 🙏

When a crew of astronauts comes back to Earth, there’s always a chance they might not land where the ground teams are - having to wait many hours or even days before they can be reached.

Another highlight of the visit to Houston - getting into NASA’s Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory. We saw just how much time and effort is put in by the whole team for each simulation of a space walk, including preparing the EVA suit days and weeks in advance. We went for a dive around…

Experiencing the centrifuge was definitely a highlight of basic training so far. Spinning in the centrifuge simulated the increased g-forces we’ll feel during spaceflight, following profiles for launch and re-entry 🚀 We reached 6 times the Earth’s gravity, and saw how much more…

Look at these incredible new Euclid images - from the ‘small’ scales of nebulae all the way to a cluster of galaxies, amazing 🌌 I can’t wait to see the science that’s just beginning 🔭 Congratulations ESA's Euclid mission team!

Extravehicular activity and tools training! 🧑‍🚀 We completed our first “move dives” - moving around structures using only handrails and a limited range of motion, as would be imposed by an EVA suit. We were introduced to the equipment needed for EVAs, e.g. tethers, tools, and foot…

This was fantastic - not only to see the hardware, but to chat with the experts developing it. Many modifications are needed to make a camera that will function correctly in space - from being usable whilst wearing an EVA suit 🧑‍🚀, to not getting clogged up with Lunar dust!

Very exciting indeed! The first of this type of mission 👩‍🚀🚀 I’m really looking forward to seeing how this develops, and the UK-led science that could be carried out.
