We’re pleased to see increases to housing subsidies for vulnerable seniors in BC, however a subsidy increase to $310/month does not serve the 85% of BC seniors who can only afford up to $1,000 per month. One-bedrooms in BC are renting for $2100+, and so a significant gap remains.

2/2 Most Vancouver houses provide 'hidden density.'
That is because most 'are divided into multiple units, rooming houses, shared collective housing and secondary suites.'
Andy Yan says we need to avoid a 'blind, dogma-driven assault on an imagined zoning type.'

Fantastic analysis by Jacob Loo Dawang 🔰 but should we be surprised? TOD is tough in prairie cities where developable land is abundant + our typical model does a weak job of creating good places around transit stations. Transit alone is not enough to drive development in YEG
