A feature of Third Style fresco painting is the use of candelabras (lamp stands) to divide up the panels of colour. I think this one from the newly discovered black room has one of the finest tripod footings I’ve seen. I stopped by a storeroom in to see a bronze example.

Those figurative scenes in the context of the black room & their small size given the scale of the room. I love the simple white mosaic with its geometric thresholds and even more the crude attempt to repair damage after a fissure opens up probably due to an earthquake
