I've a soft spot for the Satellite moth.

It's one of those species where the more you look at it the more intricate colours and patterns you see.

😍😍😍 Invertebrates 😍😍😍
This gorgeous carrion beetle (nicrophorus investigator I think) is possibly my moth trap by-catch highlight of the year! Also the stinkiest thing in the trap to date πŸ˜‚ also Pink-Barred Sallow NFY, Garden Carpet and a nice mix of pondsnails

With some Light SE winds + favorable trapping conditions these two must have reached the North Coast of NI & my trap.
Pale Mottled Willow and Setaceous Hebrew Character.
From what I can see records wise, nether have been recorded here since pre 1970 + 2000 respectively.

Some weekend moth highlights! My favourite was definitely this stunning Frosted Orange 😍 Also thrilled to see Shaded Broad Bar out and about, the red form of Small Wainscot and a Mouse Moth, which isn't as common as it used to be 🐁 BC Northern Ireland

At the time of year when many of the species become varying shades of brown or worn with age, there are welcome standouts.

The Boarded Beauty is one of them.
