Bhavik Reddy Kondala is the elementary school Louisiana Student of the Year winner. He attends Eden Gardens Fundamental Elementary Magnet in Caddo Parish. He aspires to become a physician and feels “There are no shortcuts to success…only dedication and hard work.”

Madilyn Nichole Whitmore is the middle school Louisiana Student of the Year winner. She attends Westdale Middle in East Baton Rouge Parish, where she excels both academically and in extracurricular activities. She states, “It is the progress, not the perfection that matters.”

Zachary Evans Cryer is the high school Louisiana Student of the Year winner. During his school career, he has excelled both athletically and academically. His guiding principle has been, “A life isn’t significant except for its impact on other lives.”

HB 551 (Rep. Brass), which expands CTE and virtual instruction programs to increase participation in dual enrollment course offerings across the state as well as expands DE Task Force membership, passed favorably out of Senate Education.
