Penzance-born Francis Pascoe qualified from Barts in 1835 and moved to Trewhiddle Farm, Cornwall, where this inscription on the barn probably refers to Francis Polkinghorne, a previous owner of the land. Pascoe later moved to London and became an eminent entomologist.
