I enjoyed my visit to Battersea earlier today to discuss animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. In Adopt-a-Greyhound Month, it was a particular pleasure to meet Alan, a very friendly representative of the breed.

Lost pets will be reunited with owners more quickly due to improvements to the cat and dog microchipping system.

Reforms will make systems easier to use, helping vets, local authorities and organisations like Battersea reunite pets and owners 🐾

It was lovely to welcome Bruce from Dogs Trust 💛🐶 and Pixie from Battersea to #Westminster following the passing of Second Reading of my #PuppySmuggling Bill. Bruce was a victim of puppy smuggling before he was rescued and rehomed. This Bill will ensure no other pets face this

We’re pleased that the Import of Dogs, Cats and Ferrets Bill has made further progress with its Second Reading in Parliament today. We must do more to tackle low welfare animal imports, and this Bill plays a critical role in that. Learn more bit.ly/3Tk99UF

An up-to-date microchip is the easiest way to get your pet back quickly and safely should they go missing.

🐱 Cat owners have until 10 June 2024 to get their cats chipped.
