Today I added squared paper and pens to the maths area...a great achievement for this nursery child and a real confidence boost for her. Makes volunteering Manor Wood Foundation Stage Unit so rewarding!

The tree has evolved further as many children have visited to add their mark. Today 2 nursery ch decided to wrap more wool and wire around the branches. The focus and concentration was incredible.

Nursery ch Manor Wood Foundation Stage Unit loved doing ob drawing of spring flowers today. M noticed tiny details inside the tulip flower and added them to her work. Together, we found out what they were called. Lots of talk and discovery!

I showed the ch how pastels could be used sideways. N created this...'it's a treasure map! The red is lava, the light blue is shallow water, the dark blue is deep water...where monsters live. The little coloured bits don't mean anything!' Manor Wood Foundation Stage Unit

We tried tracing paper with the Gelli plate. The ch were amazed as they watched their art transfer onto it. We also layered new colours on last week's creations! Lots still to discover and experiments to come!

A half day of HMI training wasnโ€™t enough, two weeks of HMI training isnโ€™t enough. Only making the system fair, consistent, transparent and accountable will be enough.

This was A's favourite page. He was especially interested in how many elephants there were. We explored what 3 could look like and he drew them, adding 2 tusks for each. '2 & 2 &2 tusks!' Soon other nursery ch got involved! Manor Wood Foundation Stage Unit
