The NYS budget includes $20M for lead abatement, an important step in decreasing residents' exposure to lead. I look forward to continuing to work on this issue through my legislation that would inform residents of potential lead exposure.

New York State, and in particular Lower Manhattan, is enriched by the diversity of those in our communities. The state budget provides funding for settlement houses and community-based organizations in support of both our newest community members and those in the AAPI community.

Congratulations to the exceptional interns from University College Cork who visited NY and met with members of the American-Irish Legislators Society during one of our meetings. We applaud their achievements and encourage them to continue representing their alma mater with pride!

Big win for our community! The State Department of Health has returned Mount Sinai Beth Israel's closure plan, citing inconsistencies and incompleteness. My colleagues and I will continue to fight to ensure Lower Manhattan has adequate access to health care.

At a press conference highlighting the Faith-Based Affordable Housing Act, we stood in support of empowering houses of worship to provide affordable housing by reducing bureaucratic hurdles. Excited to work with colleagues and stakeholders on this legislation!

It's great to see state Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding at work! I joined Vision Urbana Inc. to celebrate the rehabilitation of the Health and Wellness Center at 60 Madison Street, which will provide much needed health services to low-income & public housing residents.

Today, SIEDC was honored to host a roundtable between industry professionals and public leaders on housing topics unique to Staten Island, including the need to streamline zoning, home buyer incentives, and other regulatory restrictions.
