The conclusion of #HOT_COVID_trial was
In adult ICU patients with COVID-19 and severe hypoxemia, targeting a Pao2 of 60 mm Hg (8 kPa) resulted in more days alive without life support in 90 days than targeting a Pao2 of 90 mm Hg (12 kPa)
Not that we hope to see COVID pts in ICU
#HOT_ICU_trial was swiftly transformed to #HOT_COVID_trial planned to enrol 780 pts
The trial was terminated early after the winter 22-23 and the omicron variant because of very few pts in ICUs with severe hypoxemia
At that time 726 patients had been enrolled
Massiv effort from alot of good people 🙏
