On 17 May '22, the SR on State Succession summed up the debate on his 5th report. The great news is that the ILC decided in principle to change the form of the work on the topic from draft articles to draft guidelines, which is more appropriate. #ILC_2022 media.un.org/en/asset/k13/k…

The Chair of the ILC Drafting Committee presented the report of the Drafting Committee on jus cogens to plenary. The ILC considered the report and adopted the text of the draft conclusions 1 to 23 and annex on second reading and the new title. legal.un.org/docs/?path=../… #ILC_2022

Today, in a significant development, the International Law Commission’s final second reading text on jus cogens will be presented by the Chair of Drafting Committee Prof Park (S. Korea) to our plenary for adoption. A major achievement with all the changes after State comments.
