Clare Sealy Tim Taylor #MantleoftheExpert #TryThis... Martin Robinson Yup. And (paradoxically) the returns of painstaking subject rigour for general competencies (literacy & oracy) are vast. Thorough knowledge triples its own accessibility by virtue of coherence (naturally recurring retrieval). The effect on critical thinking, free-ranging talk…

We certainly need to talk about oracy (or Tracy as my spellcheck insists on calling it)... Firstly, the meaning of oracy is contested and the teaching of it, therefore, can be a way in to a whole lot of other issues that need thinking about before a school 'does oracy'.

Lots of debate recently on the topic of oracy. Without clear definitions and parameters for practice, I'm not sure debate will prove so useful.

I considered a few questions to frame the oracy debate that *may* be helpful...

🧵Oracy.
One of the three prime areas in EYFS is communication and language. It's a prime area because it's fundamental to success both academically and generally. This doesn't diminish as children move through key stages.

Massive spike in views to my adaptive teaching blog today. Higher than on either of first two days of posting. Who’s put it out there? It’s not Teacher Tapp (probably too long for them anyway). Don’t think it’s Mary Myatt ? Intrigued! (And grateful of course.)
