It was so wonderful to welcome Darcy to the Park. Thanks to Make-A-Wish UK for organising this. Darcy was a natural with our animals and it was a pleasure to spend the day with Darcy and her family.

The Park is currently awash with the most spectacular colours and scents as our #tulips , #daffodils and #magnolias are in full bloom, including a variety called ‘White Lion’ (photo 4) which can be seen opposite the Giant Tortoise exhibit. #flowers #gardens

As the day comes to a close, special thoughts on our 54th anniversary for Mr John Heyworth and Mrs Susan Heyworth who founded the Park in 1970. We are forever grateful for their vision and for sharing their love of wildlife with us all. Their son Reggie now runs the Park.

Another one from the archive to mark our 54th anniversary. In the 1970's, Johnny Morris and Rocky, our hand-reared Rockhopper #Penguin , became stars of BBC’s hugely popular wildlife TV show - Animal Magic. Johnny would often judge and award prizes at pet shows held at the Park.

Today it's our 54th anniversary. Recently, we unearthed newsletters from the archives which have never been published online before. They include Rhino Ukhukho who adopted a baby Eland. Its mother would graze peacefully next to them in the paddock and all 3 would rest together.
