Sea Pea (Lathyrus japonicus) is rare in Ireland, considered 'Vulnerable' to extinction & protected under the Flora Protection Order. A population from West Cork is safely banked in the National Seed Bank at DBNherbarium NBG Ireland & germinating nicely for me this wk!

The National Seed Bank made significant milestones this month with the first 100 batches of seed being officially accessioned into the collection after competing the quality control process. NBGS0000001 was Anthyllis vulneraria collected in the Burren by National Parks and Wildlife Service colleagues

Another exciting publication from our team! Invasive species expert, Dr Darren Reidy NBG Ireland collaborated with colleagues on this 'Identification Guide to Ireland's Regulated Invasive Alien Species' just published by the National Biodiversity Data Centre Biodiversity Ireland
A new article published in the Irish Naturalists Journal INJ-Journal by one of our team, Dr Darren Reidy & colleague Ken Bond, documents the invasive aquatic plant Myriophyllum aquaticum acting as a host plant for Epiphyas postvittana, an invasive moth & crop pest in Ireland.
