Excellent work by Environmental Audit Committee led by its Conservative chair Philip Dunne holding Government to account and asking for point-by-point response to the many logical inconsistencies generated by the recent net zero announcement. The best sort of parliamentary scrutiny.

PM totally incoherent. It’s nonsense to keep saying he’s still committed to net zero by 2050 if he’s abandoning the steps to actually achieve it. It’s like saying he’s committed to putting out the fire at the same time as letting down all the tyres on the fire engines #NetZero

Eerily similar to Liz Truss' remarks yesterday, it is striking how the current Government, which is nominally pro-markets and pro-business, really doesn't seem to understand markets or business.

Terrible analogy and not how the electricity market operates. The Conservative government has banned onshore wind since 2015, which is the cheapest form of electricity. If you did want the coffee analogy, this is like banning cheap filter coffee and forcing everyone to buy Costa!
