Just as we did after 1997 it falls, once again, to Labour to now rescue our NHS.

All across the country people are turning to Labour to start the work of rebuilding our economy and our public services.

Even in a country where, as one voter told me, ‘nothing seems to work anymore’ hopeless Govts aren’t replaced by chance, but by choice.

Thank you, therefore, to all the Scottish Labour & The Labour Party supporters who each week choose to give their time to making our country better.👏

Amidst the chaos and disappointments of two failing Governments, in ⁦East Lothian Labour⁩ we’re staying focussed on winning the support we need to start the rebuilding. Here’s our team heading out for a day on the doors from our stall at Haddington Farmers Market this morning.

On this quiet week in Scottish politics (!) it was great to welcome ⁦Anas Sarwar⁩ to East Lothian this morning to meet with Community Windpower at their BeGreen Energy Advice Centre in Dunbar High Street.

Good to spend time with the very impressive East Lothian foodbank team in Tranent.

The foodbank is based in what used to be a library….that struck me as symbolic of what austerity & cuts to local government have done to our public realm & common life.

It’s time for change.

Frank never stopped being outraged by the endurance of child poverty in modern Britain. He understood, as Mandela famously said, that “…poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the action of human beings.” RIP.

Such sad news. David Marquand was a giant of social democracy & progressive thinking in Britain. His writing articulated a vision of the good society that resonates to this day.

Bus services are a vital lifeline for local communities. It was a pleasure to meet the team at Prentice of Haddington today and hear about the challenges and opportunities of operating this local bus company here in East Lothian.
