In a historic first, the Ministry of Health- Uganda has handed over the Ebola Treatment Unit to Infectious Diseases Institute, Makerere University, aiming to transform the unit into a regional training centre. Previously managed by MSF International, the unit will now focus on training healthcare professionals to handle future health crises.

The Ministry of Health- Uganda led by Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero has this afternoon officially launched Phase II of the #YellowFever vaccination campaign at Mehta Primary School in Lugazi Municipality.
The vaccination campaign will run till 8th April, 2024.

In her remarks, the PS Ministry of Health- Uganda, Dr. Dr. Diana Atwine thanked the children in the audience for willing to be vaccinated against Yellow Fever. She posited that the people standing in the way of the children getting vaccinated are doing Uganda a disservice.

Dr. Dr. Diana Atwine emphasised the fact that population increase & the reduction of the <5yrs mortality is because Uganda prioritized vaccination.
'If we don’t vaccinate people, we shall see more people getting sick, children dropping out of school etc.'
