Great to visit Southport this week to attend the launch of The Engine Room— a new co-working and co-learning space. This is the work of Manchester Institute of Education (MIE)’s Eric Lybeck. Happily shattered following this evening’s fabulous The Foundation for Education Development consultation event on policy needs of small, rural & coastal schools. So much sharing & learning. Let's not play this down. This is a science secretary with a lot of climbing down to do. Absolutely ridiculous that people, good people, should have had to go through this unprecedented and unjustified intervention from the government.

Will be interesing to see if Iain Mansfield apologises for his and Policy Exchange's role in this.

It's quite obvious that in certain national newspaper offices people are having conversations that go something like 'well, this story isn't true, but it's low-risk to put it out because we know the only response will be a letter to the editor'. That has to change. It can change.
