Such a powerful reminder of why people living on the streets may need pets, and why it’s still cruel and unusual to force people under threat of arrest to go to a shelter that wouldn’t accept them.

Trigger warnings on sexual assault & violence, but wow, what a powerful video.

In Street Sense's new issue, you'll find a story from one of our interns about the police detaining a pregnant Black woman during an encampment closure. Police held the woman, Tavoncia, in a police van for an hour, handcuffed, while the city cleared her encampment. (1/4)

We've known officials have been lying to the public about the 'need' to criminalize homelessness, but to lie to a court, just to keep the same failed policies that never ended homelessness in the first place?!? It's so clearly time for a new direction. .
