This colourful map was recently viewed #InTheSearchroom . It is a survey of the Holt estate, Wokingham, by John Smith (no date, late 18th century). We love the attention to detail including all the different buildings. #ColourfulArchives #Archive30
In 686, a plague took the lives of all the educated monks at Jarrow bar two - the abbot, and a young boy. That boy was Bede, who went on to become the first English historian and one of the great scholars of the Middle Ages. He is buried here at Durham. #SpotTheHiddenMouse
This is an internationally recognised treasure trove of opera history. A grant from National Manuscripts Conservation Trust enabled conservation of autograph manuscripts by Donizetti, Mayr, Mercadante & Pacini. Previously too fragile to be made consulted, now the whole collection is stable & accessible.

This glorious 8th century book is St Cuthbert's Gospel (the oldest bound book).
Cuthbert, due to the saint's unsociable habits, was the name given to Professor Binns in #HarryPotter :

St Cuthbert Gospel is the earliest surviving intact Western book: it is in its original binding, and it has never been restored or resewn. A major acquisition for British Library in 2011 which Friends of the National Libraries (FNL) was delighted to be able to support with a major grant.

The next deadline for Anna Plowden/The Clothworkers' Foundation CPD grants is **8 April**. If you hope to go to Icon 24 but can't afford it then apply to annaplowdentrust.org.uk for a grant for up to 50% of the cost. APT is the largest source of grants for CPD for conservators.
