An epic Atlantic salmon spawning sequence. As the female creates her redd (or nest) in the bed of the river, she is bitten by fighting males and bombed by a cormorant. She continues and successfully deposits her fertilised eggs into to the relative safety of the gravel 🙂

Loughs Agency recently installed 4 eel/lamprey passes on the Rivers Finn, Strule, Faughan and Roe.

These passes ease the passage at sites previously considered “barriers to migration”, opening up river and lake habitats across all 4 catchments.
