Infant Feeding Alliance Vets and vet nurses would rightly be reported to their professional bodies and regulators for failing to feed appropriately. But human offspring can starve?
Dr Katie Cairns Dr Jasmeet B Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio And if you are hypothyroid, the milk does not come in as you are unable to produce the hormone required to lactate. But the midwives label you lazy. Yes , really 🙄
Graham Smith Mina Dr Ruth Ann Harpur Bad faith and nasty. Before I go, I'll just remind you that Dr Christie wanted the best for her baby by following healthcare advice to ebf. She wanted that so much that she persisted. She followed doctors' advice but they (and breastfeeding) failed. This is not on mothers.
Dr Jasmeet B Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio If feeding your baby were what’s wrong with society, we could all sleep so much easier!
Dr Ruth Ann Harpur (still getting teary eyes when I see this picture because it changed everything for me back then)
Dr Jasmeet B Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio Sometimes the milk only comes in after a few days. Most cultures where breastfeeding is the norm recognise this and pre lacteal feeds existed as a concept long before formula.
I’m so sorry current infant feeding policy is so divorced from common sense, history and compassion.
Dr Jasmeet B Catherine Roy Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio Where do we begin when compassion is missing from care?
We start with dismantling powerful ideologies #normalbirth #breastfeeding that marinate carers into echo chambers.
Infant Feeding Alliance Stephanie deGiorgio I was told by a midwife ' women like you are what is wrong with our society ' when I asked for a bottle for my baby as I wasn't expressing any milk. I fed my two for 24 months each , when the milk came, but after a jaundiced , ill baby was admitted to intensive care ,starving
Dr Ruth Ann Harpur Yes. I remember taking her to a clinic and them noting the weight loss. And I’d had a c-section and other reasons to be a prime candidate for low supply. Yet they didn’t suggest giving up the endless failing feeds. It was eerie. Hello?
