This is absolutely horrible. This is the gig economy and this is what will happen everywhere if we are not vigilant. This is why we all need to stand together to uphold employment rights. If we let this become the new norm for some it can become the new norm for all

It's really bad that this driver received less than 25% of what the rider paid. It seems like @Lyft and Uber are rushing to exploit drivers before laws are put in place. Where is the Mayor Jacob Frey?

Like hundreds of Lyft users, I received an email today that they’re leaving Mpls on May 1st.

What they fail to mention is that they’re choosing to “leave” because they simply do not want to pay their drivers, a largely Black & immigrant workforce, our minimum wage of $15/hr.

We are allowing this type of employment to happen in Ontario right now. We are letting labour laws erode. This is unacceptable. There is no floor for how low Uber workers are being paid. This will be looked back on with shame. We need to be accountable as a society
