A slo-mo celebration of the Govan Warrior, found by Stephen Driscoll during the UofG Archaeology and The Govan Stones βπ‘π volunteer dig in September 2023.
The The Govan Stones βπ‘π Sunstone, a Viking-Age carved stone from the Kingdom of Strathclyde. A socket on top suggests it had a cross head, or was part of a church structure. The stone's overall shape hints of the early medieval reuse of a prehistoric (Bronze Age?) standing stone.
On #EarthDay this week we shared some inspiring stories of work in historic churches such as St Mary's Haddington, The Govan Stones βπ‘π & Cairnlea Parish Church to reduce carbon footprints and improve sustainability

The The Govan Stones βπ‘π Sarcophagus is a triumph of Viking-Age art from the lost early-medieval kingdom of the Strathclyde Britons. We think it dates from the late C9th, and may have held the relics of the Pictish saint-king, Constantine.

Or perhaps Strathclyde's royal centre at Partick with its religious centre at The Govan Stones βπ‘π is the location? Has the Britons' inauguration complex been levelled along with the doomster hill, or does it lie under Patrick's urban sprawl? Is there a better candidate somewhere else?
Lowther 04 #hogback . Some interesting stuff going on on this one with a boat with warriors on the left, a long snake at the bottom, some more faint warriors at the right and something else in the middle The Corpus of Anglo-Saxon Stone Sculpture (CASSS) The Govan Stones βπ‘π #earlymediaeval #Viking #3d #photogrammetry
A brief intro to Paisley Museum's Elderslie cross. If this whets the appetite, look out for deeper conversation on its connection with the The Govan Stones βπ‘π soon to feature in an episode of an exciting new podcast. #paisley #govan π: youtu.be/NROXW8bxM6w?feβ¦

At my happiest wandering amongst gravestones The Govan Stones βπ‘π disappointed in the dog walkers, please lift your dog crap, it's disrespectful.
