I'm looking for a few more moth trappers who would be happy to help collect parasitoid wasps 🐝🦋 as part of my PhD (equipment and postage provided). Especially looking for people in the unfilled vice-counties and Northern Ireland! Gavin Broad Prof Seirian Sumner Message me for more info

Bees can be difficult to ID, especially if you don't want to kill them to look under a microscope.

In the field I put the bee in a cellophane card wrapper, then I can see all of its features with my hand lens!

This Andrena nigroaenea flew away safely after identification!

Lizard Orchids appearing at Betteshanger Country Park- the 2nd most important colony in the UK. Over 600 will be dug up in an unproven translocation experiment. They are ‘protected’under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.

Excellent day out in Norfolk with Charles Gunn , with the superb Eastern Subalpine Warbler at Holme and then the White Stork at NWT Rushmeadows, devouring frogs before flying to roost.

This is so sad to see. As we can see from Jon Dunn 🇺🇦 final image there are clear tool marks in the soil consistent with these plants being dug up. This is sadly something I have encountered many times over the years - and I stress that people are careful with site information

Absolutely *fizzing* mad here in Sicily. Arrived at a spectacular site for Ophrys oxyrhynchos to find literally hundreds of recently dug holes, and most of the orchids removed. This is orchid theft on a massive scale.

So many protected species at Betteshanger Country Park- a site to be celebrated for its biodiversity treasures not developed as a tourist resort.

The amazing Danica Priest🍃💚🍃 has been documenting the absolute disregard that Bristol City Council & Ellie King have regarding this known SNCI (Site of Nature Conservation Interest). There has also been a potential new species of Fly discovered here…

Joined Dan Beadle Charles Gunn and Liam C for a couple of days in the SW on Sun & Mon. The standout highlight from Sunday was great views of the Sociable Lapwing on the Fal Estuary at Ruan Lanihorne. An amazing wader and one I thought I'd missed the chance to see!

This is a shocking population collapse in Tree Sparrows - replicated at several sites countrywide where there is food and nest-box provision. Seemingly no obvious disease mortality but what else could lead to such sharp declines in populations subject to conservation measures?
