One thing Tony Dyer does really well is listen. Sharp contrast to outgoing Mayor Marvin Rees who doesn't. I've seen Tony being a listener & advocating it as a key leadership skill. He'll do a great job for Bristol Green Party as council leader if they win twitter.com/MattyEdwards23…

Strategic vs. tactical voting, a 🪡🧵

I'm new to politics, and have only been a Cllr for 2 years. My opinion on tactical voting has changed hugely now I know more about it: I actually think it's making the UK more right wing & less democratic.

What an excellent thread on tactical voting, and why it is not always what it seems. If you want to vote for what you want, instead of voting against what you don’t want, you need to take the longer view, and vote strategically. Which often means - Vote 💚

Most of England's Green Belt is highly valued countryside - we're talking green, not grey.

It's a home for wildlife and a vital space for us to connect with nature. But once it's gone, it's gone. ⚠️

Here's why we need to take a joined-up approach 👇

This is the worry: 'Renhard would not comment on approach with other parties, as they're currently focused on getting as many seats for Labour.'
The leader of the council under the new committee system needs a more open & collaborative approach than this.

Lovely interview with Paul Powlesland about weaving nature protection into every aspect of his life.

He tells his story in Chapter 5 of Wild Service, 'Guardianship'.

Canvassing and heavy winds do not mix 😂Thank you to everyone I spoke to today. So many lovely people and great conversations. I really want to turn your concerns into actions and make Filwood a better place for everyone.

I love seeing green posters in windows all over the ward

“If you want to have a caring society, then you have to be willing to pay for it. There are some people in this country who are not paying their fair share in terms of the amount of wealth they’ve accumulated.” – Tony Dyer

Dyer says the Greens want to work collaboratively with the parties because nobody has a monopoly on good ideas, while Renhard would not comment on approach with other parties, as they’re currently focused on getting as many seats for Labour

And Cllr Emma Edwards says her priority after Thursday's council election “will be getting to grips with the new committee system, which she says will end the “toxic” partisan culture that had emerged between Labour and the Greens under mayor Marvin Rees.”

Green Cllr Tony Dyer: “There are problems with the length of time it’s taking for assessments to be completed and delivered. I don’t think anybody here thinks it’s good enough. But it’s no good just saying it’s not good enough, we have to come up with ways of making it better..'
