Turns out The Bailie Bar stockbridgeedinburgh.com was named after a play about #TheRealMackay 's career by Donald Mackenzie performed in the fringe in 1970 at Riddle's Court. Read it in National Library of Scotland, was blown away! National Theatre of Scotland Richard Demarco Find us at @edfringe Rosie Kellagher Vicky Allan
Popped into the lovely Night Owl Books in East Linton today with a copy of #TheRealMackay ! #historicalfiction #edinburghwriters #walterscott
Thanks so much Helen Graham for giving me a copy of The Real McKay. Sounds like a fascinating read! Out in May from #Troubador Troubador Publishing

Look what just arrived! 'Oh ma conscience!' as The Bailie would have said (you might have to read the book to get the reference!) Planning to send them out to some lovely #indiebookshops and #bookstagrammers for consideration in the run up to publication May 28th #TheRealMackay
Another memorable moment - but one I've frustratingly lost the source material for. The link I saved 6 years ago went dead on me - it was a website called ayrshirearts.com. If anyone knows more please let me know! Tasting History Ayrshire Tours #TheRealMackay
Look at this great haul of books I've collected for my April reading! I've started with Leo Vardiashvili 's #Hardbyagreatforest , looking forward to all the others very much Jane S Anderson #SebastianBarry #CatherineCzerkawska Merryn Glover Esther Rutter
Another special moment on my research journey: when I discovered Mackay had been credited by Alexander Whitelaw for bringing an auld song to prominence I was thrilled. 'Byde Ye Yet' will be performed at my book launch on June 18th, more soon! #therealmackay #auldsongs #Edinburgh
VENUE CHANGE! We will now be celebrating the launch of The Real Mackay with Helen Graham and Vicky Allan at St Vincent's Chapel, just a short walk from our shop. Book now online or in the bookshop.
Standing by this obelisk raised in honour of my 3 x gt uncle, actor Charles Mackay, was very moving. Reading the sentiments inscribed on it by family and friends even more so. I hope my book does him justice! #TheRealMackay Clan Mackay Midwest mackay Allister Mackay Allister MackayLass

Yesterday I was looking for a photo of my 3 x gt grandfather's portrait to tweet that he was the father-in-law of Jane Smeal's nephew (she appears in Sara Sheridan's new book, and he appears mine) when my distant cousin emailed to say she wants to give the portrait to me! Amazing
11 weeks to go til Publication Day and here's another Wow Moment, this time from the beginning of my journey. In 2017 I saw this portrait hanging at #abbotsfordhouse and realised our family story about an actor who was a friend of #sirwalterscott was true! #booksfromscotland
Great event tonight hosted by The Edinburgh Bookshop with Kate Foster interviewing Kathleen Jones Kathleen B. Jones & Victoria MacKenzie Victoria MacKenzie about their medieval novels featuring amazing women. 2 writers I love who'd inspired them were Annie Garthwaite & Maggie O' Farrell.
It's World Book Day UK π today and I'm celebrating by buying Dr Lesley McDowell 's book Clairmont at her author event in Edinburgh tonight, hosted by Lighthouse Books. Really looking forward to hearing her talk about it, she was so interesting on BBC Radio Scotland 's Afternoon Show!
