A wonderful last day as Lynn Cooper DL, former High Sheriff joining the new High Sheriff, Heather Phillips, at her installation at the #Royal Courts of Justice. An opportunity to thank all at the RCJ who have been of such help over the year and in the past and to celebrate and wish Heather every success.

@ Snaresbrook Crown Court to thank all for what they have done to keep going during COVID. The largest court in England with the leakiest roof they have endured cold weather, leaks plus Covid. Losing 75 percent of staff at one point to lockdown they have been heroic. A great team

@ Kingston Crown court with RBK Mayor to meet unsung judges and staff to present awards for their heroic work during Covid to keep justice alive and to ensure trials ran. England’s Crown courts were alone in Europe in keeping going for victim’s, witnesses and defendants’ benefit.

RBK Mayor parlour to present community awards nominated by RBK Mayor. A fantastic group of committed people serving their community. Kingston Police Samaritans, people tacking race inspired hatred and youth crime and supporting the community during COVID. A privilege to be there.

HMP Wandsworth with Pact to present awards to staff, volunteers and prisoners for heroic efforts and support to others during COVID. Very moving accounts of going above and beyond, especially from prisoners involved in the Samaritan’s Listener scheme and the chaplaincy.

At Highbury Magistrates court with Luke Rigg MBE DL to discuss how the court coped during COVID and his work to encourage young people to become magistrates. The justice service is full of unsung heroes serving people and deserves our support. Do look at getting engaged.

A wonderful celebration#Wood Green Crown Court of all the work done by so many unsung heroes to keep justice alive during the pandemic. Working super hard, with great resilience, opening new courtrooms to deal with the backlog and keeping the nervous public at court safe. Heroic!

A second visit, this time to Westminster Magistrates court, the largest in London, to discuss their work, which includes extradition cases and how they have responded so positively during the pandemic to progress cases and now bring down the backlog. Great to meet and thank staff

A wonderful celebration in Southwark Cathedral where we gathered for the annual Grand Iftar with so many members of the community, @deansouthwark, Mayor of Southwark, @AmirEden1993, @PSLDN_Director and Hodge. A great joy and treat in my last full week as High Sheriff. Thankyou!

Great to speak to PC Paula Cooper and PC about the work of Met police cadets, schools and youth engagement and diversion teams all part of the Mayor’s police and crime plan to cut youth violence. Do check out the Local Village Network app for services/mentoring for young people

Last week visited Wimbledon Magistrates Court, my first visit to a magistrates in my year of office, which is about to end! Great to discuss their success in reducing the backlog of cases and the advantage for justice of greater diversity and young people in the magistracy.

Key4Life works to reduce youth (re) offending. A chance re-encounter and a visit to a White City park and event for under 18s providing riding, rowing and a Value4life workshop. A great team doing much needed diversion work in communities and schools. Working In prisons too.

A personal thank you to Lynn Cooper DL, former High Sheriff, Owain Richards and the Mayor of H&F Council for attending the White City Food Distribution today to meet with the staff, volunteers and the Hammersmith & Fulham VPC, giving special recognition for everyone’s hard work.

At White City Community Centre to celebrate with Hanan Ghouneim, staff, volunteers, Hammersmith & Fulham VPC going above and beyond providing food to the community during COVID (and ongoing) and building trust between local people and police. Keen to discuss more with @ghouneim, Owain Richards.
