Istio ambient is often seen as just 'service mesh without sidecars'. It is that, but it also solves a ton of pain points in Istio.

With ambient, it just works.

Our slack bot now looks an incoming alerts from Istio metrics, and compares them to relationships defined in Kubernetes network policies to find relationships between isolated alerts. Here you can see it rename an active incident channel because of that relationship.
