This afternoon's local dog walk touched the spot where in March 1943 Wellington 1C HF996 stalled and crashed killing its crew and the occupants of a rural bungalow at Common Barn...Will need to seek out the crew as they all on or near my Commonwealth War Graves patch.

Today we bid a fond farewell to our Station Commander, Gp Capt McGurk, and welcome our new Station Commander, Gp Capt Roberts.

Gp Capt McGurk took over as Stn Cdr in Aug 2021. Under his command the Chinook Force has deployed all over the world in support of Defence Commitments.

Airborne again this weekend, with one of our crews joining others from across RAF Odiham and RAF Benson in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Flypast.

It is a privilege to play a part in these events, alongside the Royal Navy, British Army 🇬🇧 and our Royal Air Force colleagues.

We had the pleasure of welcoming students from the École du Personnel Navigant d’Essais et de Réception (EPNER) to 27 Squadron this week.

EPNER is the French equivalent of the UK’s Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS). The question is…what did they think of the Chinook?
