Urea:Creatinine ratio in the spotlight! Arthur van Zanten highlights its promise as a biomarker in ICU mobilisation debate at - I would add that low creatinine might be indicative of muscle bioenergetic failure as much as high urea indicative of anabolic resistance.

Great to see this. To 'editorialise' 1) Creatinine is not fit for purpose to assess persistent renal dysfunction in survivors of critical illness 2) Cystatin c is better 3) Muscle wasting can explain the bias in creatinine 4) Many of our patients have missed kidney dysfunction!
