Thank you everyone for your best wishes. It turns out I have broken the collar bone in three places (apparently not too bad; they had a motorcyclist on Manchester Royal Infirmary with 19!) It would have been far worse if I hadn't been wearing a helmet as I really whacked my head on the tarmac.
