.Sen. Stewart-Cousins got it right in the Senate budget proposal. Workers need progressive wage replacement as part of NY’s paid family & medical leave program—so they don’t have to choose between their health and their rent.

Thank you Sen. Stewart-Cousins for a NYS Senate budget resolution that reflects a strong commitment to improving paid leave in our state and advancing equity for working families. We urge passage of NY Senator Jessica Ramos’s full S2821B bill in the final budget!

This program would also benefit any NY freelancer earning less than $56,000 a year. Contact your reps and tell them you support the UBP.

The federal government has let unemployment insurance for freelancers expire. The Excluded Workers Fund has long-since run out.

We need a safety net that reflects the reality of our labor market. We need the Unemployment Bridge Program.
