This is concerning and reminiscent of the Ledbury Action Group situation. Cracks & gaps of this nature are inherent in LPS blocks and can mean breaches of fire compartmentation between flats. Avon Fire & Rescue Service are you still standing by your statements over the safety of this block?
Today we visited Barton House in Bristol. What is happening here is one of the worst housing situations we’ve come across to date. Bristol City Council’s ongoing mishandling of the crisis is shocking and many residents are really suffering. More to follow.
Southwark Council Southwark Council you may be aware of the recent recall on some boilers idealheating.com/blog/important… we’ve been contacted by a council tenant who has had one of the affected models recently installed. Do they contact repairs or is there someone else dealing with this?
Fadumo Farah Can Cabinet members for housing Kye Dudd or Tom Renhard confirm whether Barton House residents will be classed as being ‘intentionally homeless’ if they feel too frightened to return. I’ve followed this up with an email to both of you and look forward to your urgent response.
We maintain that Barton House, due to its inherent design flaws, remains at risk of structural collapse in the event of fire, impact, gas explosion or high winds. In our opinion the new report offers no reassurances & Bristol City Council should not be asking residents to move back.
Bristol Council says it’s now safe to return and appear to be leaning very heavily on a statement from Avon Fire & Rescue Service and allowing them to bear responsibility: ‘Avon Fire & Rescue Service support the decision to allow residents to reoccupy Barton House’.
