Stephanie deGiorgio Learning from Excellence This is massive and should be commended, because it doesnt just happen by itself. Inclusion and belonging allow us to build a real sense of team and better teams have been shown to have better patient outcomes.

We donā€™t celebrate good things enough in the NHS.

We have worked so hard to make a really good team here in the UTC Margate. Really hard.
This is our feedback from January - when it was so busy and grim.

We arenā€™t perfect at all, but doing ok.

The power of positive feedback is huge.

An email, a quiet comment, a card, a genuine thank you..

Great for morale and valuing colleagues

But also

Positive feedback about a specific action or behaviour will result in more of it!

Try it.
Make someone's day.

We had a fascinating conversation with Paul Devlin at our LFE community zoom today, with lots of engagement from the community. Thanks to all who joined us. We will share the audio recording via our podcast. Emma Plunkett civilitysaveslives

I have a hunch that many professional arguments are underpinned by a paradoxical agreement between the arguing parties. People are often saying the same thing to each other, with a tone of disagreement. It would be nice to be able to recognise this in the heat of debate.

There's a lot of noise about 'transformation' & 'improvement' in NHS. But I think the feeling of making a difference is quieter & behind the scenes- it's the little things at a personal level. The conversation when we heard each other, the word of encouragement that really landed

Been thinking about language since my conv with Adrian from Learning from Excellence . On the podcast he reflected we are sometimes limited by our language & the words we try to use to describe how we are feeling. Language doesn't just communicate emotion, it shapes what we are feeling too.

Really interesting Learning from Excellence podcast with the brilliant anna baverstock. I loved hearing her talk at the LfE conference back in November, so, great to hear more from her!

3. Feedback

anna baverstock reflects on some of the disadvantages of anonymous feedback & how we can help frame negative comments in a constructive way

This is not about our own personal motives or frustration,
It's about supporting someone else to grow and develop

'Life is short, even if you make it to 90. So let's use the time wisely'.

Sam Harris, reflecting on the death of Daniel Kahneman.

Kahneman's work has had a big influence on LFE. Such an inspiring mind and legacy.
