As people prepare to go to the polls to vote in the European Elections 🇪🇺, Local Elections 🇮🇪, and (for the lucky among us) the Limerick Mayoral Election🟢⚪ it's more important than ever to Hit Pause, and think before you share.

You'd be withered from this crowd but not surprising, they have been trying to block every possible improvement in City for a while now. Very disappointed in the Irish Independent though, a lot of inaccuracies & unchallenged bull in the piece.
Here's a few I found (1/9)

Is there any street in Limerick city centre WITHOUT on-street parking?
Obviously aside from Bedford Row/Cruise's St/Lt Catherine St? Not counting tiny lanes, or streets with multi-storey car parks

I can only think of 1 in the whole city centre.

With this as the city centre:

Here's a beautiful story of an Irish postman called Mike Sheehan, who cycled up to 30 miles a day for 42 years delivering post around Goleen in West Cork. While other postmen opted for cars and motorbikes because of the steep mountainous terrain, Mike never changed. His son

This is unbelievably tragic, the Council voted to improve this junction last year and we’re still waiting for the work to start

🚲 How every cycle lane in Dublin should look 🚲

✅Clean
✅Uncluttered
✅Fully segregated
✅Bollard free
✅Safe

It’s really not that difficult and often what you’d see in much poorer cities 🤷🏻‍♂️

Eric Nelligan The last Census showed 1,807 people commuting by bike as their main mode of transport in the city.
Shannon Bridge lane has 400 trip per day (12,000 a month). And the recent Sustrans study surveyed over 1,000 people. 76% support more cycle lanes even when car space is reduced.

Eric Nelligan Nah... You mean most drivers don't like them... Everyone I know who doesn't/can't drive loves them
My uncle is not able to drive because his eyesight is too weak to qualify for a license... However those new cycle paths have him looking for a new bike as we speak
